Día de los Muertos Week (DDM Week) is a week-long celebration in Highland Park, Illinois (Oct 25 – Nov 2, 2025)honoring life, love, and remembrance through art, music, workshops, food, and community events. Inspired by the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, the celebration features ofrendas, live performances, classes, cultural experiences, and family-friendly activities hosted by local businesses and organizations.2.

2. What is the DDM Experience Pass?

The DDM Experience Pass is your ticket to explore the celebration in full! Each pass unlocks access to exclusive cultural workshops, tastings, and VIP experiences curated around traditional altar elements — such as art, music, and culinary experiences inspired by remembrance and connection.

  • The Experience Pass includes both free and paid events throughout DDM Week.

  • Some workshops and classes are exclusive to pass holders.

  • Passes are limited and available while supplies last.

3. How do I purchase a DDM Experience Pass?

You can purchase your pass online at this website or in person during the Opening Celebration on Saturday, October 25, from 3–5 PM at Memorial Park located at 405 Prospect Ave., Highland Park.

Passes often sell out quickly, so early purchase is highly recommended!

4. Where do I pick up my Experience Pass?

You can pick up your Experience Pass at:

  • The Opening Celebration on Saturday, October 25, from 3–5 PM at Memorial Park.

  • After that, passes can be purchased directly at participating businesses.

Be sure to bring your confirmation email or digital receipt.

5. What does the Experience Pass include?

Your pass gives you access to:

  • VIP workshops and classes (art, culinary, wellness, craft-based).

  • Exclusive tastings and demos at select participating businesses.

  • Collectible DDM keepsakes and stickers to complete your Altar journey.

  • Special DDM offers available only to pass holders.

Each experience reveals part of the story of Día de los Muertos — collect them all as you follow your altar-inspired path through Highland Park.

6. Do I need a pass to enjoy DDM Week?

No! Many DDM Week activities are free and open to the public, including the opening and closing event, and the community ofrenda.
However, the Experience Pass provides exclusive and curated experiences or additional offers that are not available to general attendees.

8. Are there events for kids and families?

DDM Week takes place throughout Downtown Highland Park, with the main ofrenda installation held at Memorial Park located at 405 Prospect Ave., Highland Park. Participating businesses, art studios, and restaurants across town also host themed workshops, tastings, and cultural events throughout the week.

9. Can I still participate if I’m not of Mexican heritage?

Yes — DDM Week welcomes everyone! This celebration is about honoring life and cultural appreciation. Visitors are encouraged to learn, engage, and celebrate the beauty of this tradition with respect and curiosity.

10. How can my business or organization get involved?

Businesses can join by hosting a DDM-inspired activity, class, or special offer, or by sponsoring part of the event.

11. Will there be free events?

Yes! The Opening event (Altar Celebration), Closing event (Tarde de Catrinas), community ofrenda and select workshops are free and open to everyone, subject to availability. However, VIP workshops and experiences require a DDM Experience Pass or advance RSVP.

12. Is parking available?

Yes, free and metered public parking is available throughout Downtown Highland Park, with additional parking near Memorial Park and Central Avenue. We encourage walking between nearby businesses to enjoy the full experience of DDM Week.
